In the period of economic transition when the economy and market environment change frequently, the innovation of single subject has been difficult to meet the market demand, the innovation has gradually changed from the traditional single linear model to the collaborative innovation model of multi-subject participation and coordinated development,industry-university collaborative innovation which is the core part of the innovation system is the most effective collaborative innovation model currently, and it has become an effective mechanism for innovative countries and regions to achieve technological innovation, enhance core capabilities and stimulate synergies through integrate technology resources, educational resources and industrial resources. In order to promote the development of industry-university collaborative innovation more effectively,it is necessary to clarify the factors that influence the performance of industry-university collaborative innovation, multidimensional proximity is the appropriate analysis perspective of research.Multidimensional proximity can close the distance between universities and enterprises, fill the innovation gap between the technological potential of universities and technological innovation of enterprises, help universities and enterprises to get rid of obstacles in the process of collaborative innovation, and play an important role in the industry-university collaborative innovation. Therefore, clarifing the influence of multidimensional proximity on the performance of industry-university collaborative innovation has guiding significance for universities and enterprises to enhance innovation performance in collaborative practice.Based on summarizing and analyzing the related research at home and abroad, firstly, the paper analyzes the concept of multidimensional proximity and redefines the dimension division of multidimensional proximity.Secondly, the paper discusses the relationship between the proximity of different dimensions and its impact on the performance of industry-university collaborative innovation, and then puts forward the research hypotheses and constructs a conceptual model of the influence of geographical proximity on the industry-university collaborative innovation with social proximity as the adjusted intermediary variable.Thirdly, the measurement methods of proximity proximity in different dimensions are summarized and compared, and the research hypotheses is verified by negative binomial regression analysis. Finally, according to the empirical results, the practical enlightenment of promoting the performance improvement of industry-university collaborative innovation is drawn from the two levels of industry-university and government, and the future research direction is prospected. The results show that:(1)Geographical proximity and social proximity have a positive effect on the performance of industry-university collaborative innovation;(2)Geographic proximity has a positive effect on the improvement of social proximity, and the positive effect of geographical proximity on the performance of industry-university collaborative innovation is achieved through social proximity;(3)Technology proximity has a positive effect on the improvement of industry-university collaborative innovation, and technological proximity plays a role in regulating social proximity and performance of industry-university collaborative innovation.
