Research On The Impact Of China’s Outward Foreign Direct Investment On The Quality Of Export Products

As one of the "three carriages" driving economic growth,since the reform and opening-up,the annual growth rate of China’s export trade is much higher than that of other countries in the world,and China has become the world’s largest exporter.However,at the same time,with the mode of attracting foreign capital to promote trade development,China’s export technology content and quality are locked at the low end for a long time,which is not conducive to China’s transformation from a large trading country to a trading power.OFDI is one of the two rounds of China’s open economy.Its rapid growth is a typical feature in the process of China’s economic internationalization since the new century.However,the home country effect of OFDI,especially whether OFDI can effectively improve the quality of export products from the home country and thus affect the position of Chinese enterprises in export competition,has not been clearly concluded in the academic circle.Based on this,this paper systematically studies the influence mechanism of OFDI on the quality of China’s export products,conducts empirical research from the national,regional and enterprise levels,and finally puts forward policy suggestions.Firstly,this paper summarizes the impact of different motives and different locations of OFDI on the quality of export products;secondly,this paper constructs a mathematical model based on the new-new trade theory to analyze the impact mechanism of OFDI on the quality of export products;thirdly,this paper summarizes the development of China’s OFDI and export,and uses the unit price method After that,this paper makes an empirical study on the impact of OFDI on the quality of export products from the national,regional and enterprise levels.This paper finds that: first,OFDI has a significant role in promoting the quality of export products,and different types of OFDI have different ways of promoting the quality of export products;second,the measurement results of the quality of export products show that the quality of China’s export products has no obvious upward or downward trend,but out of constant fluctuations,and compared with The western developed countries are at a low level.Further subdivision found that the proportion of medium quality products in China’s exports is the largest and the proportion increases year by year.The quality of products exported to developed countries is higher than that of developing countries.Third,the empirical results at the national level show that OFDI has a significant positive impact on the quality of export products.Compared with developed countries,the quality of export products in developing countries is more promoted by OFDI,while infrastructure,trade openness,human capital and other factors also affect the quality of export products Ascension has an impact.In addition,the improvement of the quality of a country’s export products is a dynamic and continuous process;the empirical results at the regional level show that the eastern region’s OFDI plays a greater role in improving the quality of export products than other regions;the empirical results at the enterprise level show that,after excluding the self-selection effect,OFDI has a significant positive impact on the quality of export products.According to the above conclusions,this paper puts forward policy suggestions from the macro and micro levels.
