The aggravation of environmental pollution is one of the most important issues in the world.In order to manage problems related to industrial activities,several methods,techniques and methods have been developed.Green supply chain management is viewed as one of the most important environmental concern strategy or activity used by companies all over the globe.However,the usage,awareness and implementation of Green supply chain management practices in Pakistan and other different under-developing countries is still in early stages.Lack of knowledge as for its impact on economic performance,it is precisely because the industry is afraid to implement these practices.The drive of this research is to comprehend the dimensions of Green supply chain management,their mechanism and impact on firm Performance specifically the SME's of Pakistan textile industry.Green Supply Chain Management is a emerging trend in Manufacturing enterprise.Competition in global markets generates the need of implementing GSCM and enterprises focuses on the developing & producing sustainable products.There are different environmental issues that must be take into consideration while start production of a product because the aim of GSCM is to protect environment from harmful gases,chemicals and materials that are used or sometimes waste during the Production process.“GSCM is defined as integrating environmental thinking into supply-chain management,including product design,material sourcing and selection,manufacturing processes,delivery of final products as well as end-of-life management of product after its useful life.” Studies have been conducted in other countries relating to Green supply chain competence,components,practices and organizational performance in relation to manufacturing entities.However,in developing countries,more specifically in Pakistan limited research has been conducted in this area.This study addresses that knowledge gap.The study was a descriptive survey as it was concerned with describing the characteristics of manufacturing entities with regards to green supply chain capabilities.The population of interest for this study was Textile manufacturing firms within Pakistan.A sample of 240 manufacturing entities was randomly selected to participate in this study.Both primary and secondary data was used for the study.To gather primary data,survey questionnaire was modified and developed which included different questions statements about all the variables studied while secondary data sources includes different research papers,studies and relevant literature available to support this study.The data analysis methods that were employed are qualitative and quantitative techniques.In addition,Structural equation modeling in STATA was used to examine the influence of green supply chain capabilities versus firm performance.The study found out that,internal environmental management capabilities,green purchasing capabilities,cooperation with customers and eco-design capabilities influenced the firm performance of manufacturing entities in varying proportions with mediation effect of organizational variables that are operational efficiency and employee job satisfaction.Also,further research can be conducted on the influence of green supply chain capabilities but in different sectors other than textile manufacturing.
