With the rapid development of science and technology, the external environment faced by firms are increasingly risky and uncertain.Based on technical knowledge, diversification strategy has been widely applied by most enterprises. However,it is more and more difficult to conduct innovative activities with their own knowledge accumulation. Thus, collaborative innovation is a win-win way to improve their competitiveness.Taking listed high-tech private enterprises as samples, this paper focuses on the different impacts of two types of technology diversification(TD): related technology diversification(RTD)and unrelated technology diversification(UTD),on collaborative innovation performance(CIP).The research questions of this paper are as follows :(1)what is the relationship between technological diversification and CIP?(2)what is the difference between the impact of RTD and UTD on CIP?(3)how does the institutional background affect the CIP of enterprises? As for research topics above,we review collaborative innovation research.Secondly, based on the resource-based theory and dynamic capability theory,we propose our hypothesis. Finally,we collect listed high-tech private enterprises' co-patents to conduct our empirical research. The results show that:(1)There is an inverted u-shaped relationship between TD and CIP;(2)UTD is positively correlated with CIP,and there is an inverted u-shaped relationship between RTD and CIP;(3)Political power positively moderates the effect of UTD with CIP,and strengthens the inverted u-shaped relationship between RTD and CIP.(4)Institutional proximity positively moderates the effect of UTD with CIP,and weakens the inverted u-shaped relationship between RTD and CIP.
