Abstract/Summary:
This study seeks to unravel the relationship between delinquency and placement instability among foster care youth. This study examined several variables believed to be correlated to delinquency and placement instability. These variables include, but are not limited to, race, gender, abuse history, and behavioral problems. Several bivariate and multivariate analyses revealed statistically significant relationships between delinquency, placement instability, and multiple independent variables. Understanding the causal order of delinquency and placement instability and what factors contribute to that relationship is necessary in order to prevent delinquency and placement instability among youth in the foster care system.
