The purpose of this qualitative study was to discover and capture the feelings, attitudes, and perceptions of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their quality of life upon returning from a war-combat deployment. Data was collected by conducting 18 one-on-one interviews with veterans in the age range from 23-58 years old.;The study found that most of the participants had problems upon returning from a war-combat zone and when getting out of the military transitioning to life as a civilian, especially with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The veterans either came from dysfunctional families or had distanced themselves from contacting their families.;Future research is needed on the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. Recommendations include screening the veterans before joining the military and after returning from a deployment, as well as providing ongoing services, such as counseling and follow-up care even after they are out of the military and living life as a civilian.
