Abstract/Summary:
Third Generation Mobile communication standard (3G) characterizes high data speed in addition to the voice communication supported by its predecessor 2G and 2.5G. 3G is being deployed in different parts of the world. Japan and Western Europe are among the first one to successfully use the advanced services supported by 3G. There are various factors that can influence the future of 3G market around the world. Factors like cost, competition, licenses, society culture and also the fact the world could be divided between CDMA 2000 and WCDMA in terms of 3G adoptions are all great importance. India had a great success with the deployment of 2G services, later followed by 2.5G standards and it is now ready to for 3G adoption/deployment. A lot depends on government policies, economic implications, market structure etc. prevailing in India. This study looks to identify and analyze such factors and present conclusions on the basis of facts collected by means of survey and other resources.
