Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to conduct a historical analysis of the developments in school social work during the second half of the 20 th century, 1950-2000. Historically, the school system has made significant turns to help enhance children's education. This study looks at the historical aspect of the school social work profession and explores the involvement required from social workers in order to enhance or promote student's learning. Social workers play an important role in school settings. It is important for school social workers to fully understand their roles and work towards one main goal, which is to assist children to be successful in their education. Existing professional literature was obtained to conduct this study.
