| As a result of increasing complexity of the health care system in the United States, along with increasing government and customers demand for better services, the need for an efficient quality improvement method such as Six Sigma is quickly gaining recognition.;This study explains various Six Sigma critical success factors such as leadership, customer satisfaction, team building and training. Lean method of process improvement is also introduced; various statistical tools are used with the purpose of identifying the current admissions cycle time of a hospital and the floors that may need improvement and further analysis.;The results of the statistical analysis showed that most floors are not meeting the benchmarked admissions time of two hours or less in a consistent manner; some floors have outliers or excessive delays in admissions. Lastly, the analysis showed that delays in admissions may not necessarily be caused by the number of patients admitted. |
