Abstract/Summary:
A compilation of short fiction, poetry and poetry in translation. This work deals with themes of pregnancy, the body, relationship to other and the borders between experience and language. The short fiction largely employs the first person voice although the last piece, "The Faces of Their Country" uses a third person point of view to tell the story. The translations are from original work by a Mexican poet and professor, Ursus Juarez. They re-tell Aztec myths through a brief prose introduction and a series of poems. The poetry includes excerpts from a recent chapbook, "Gestation." The manuscript, like the Indian yantra, attempts to pull many elements together into one form. It is an attempt to create a weave of many genres, all dancing around similar subjects.
