Improving on-task behavior in the classroom

Abstract/Summary:
This study explored positive reinforcement, behavior specific praise, and a token economy, on-task behavior and attendance in the classroom. Jet bucks were used as a primary reinforcement in the class and were used towards preferred items from the store. The intervention setting was a 4th grade general education classroom. Students showed some growth in completing homework, attendance, and tardiness. Overall, the students on- task behaviors were increased after the intervention was introduced.
