Abstract/Summary:
Buddhism and place-based education can be combined to create an environmental education program. This thesis reviews the principles and practices of Buddhism and how they relate to thinking about the environment and education. Design principles of place-based education and other educational methods are also reviewed. The result is an example of how mindfulness, compassion, and interconnectedness can be integrated into environmental education activities for school-age children.
