Abstract/Summary:
The value of the professional activities of landscape architecture have not previously been determined. In this thesis, economic and additional values of the profession were determined from available Canadian and U.S. information.;A model of professional activity relationships, created using a variety of comparisons and applied to the study group---473 private practitioners of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects---showed 'tangible values' for 1999 that include a ;Additional values and benefits of the profession in real estate, environmental improvement, health, aesthetics and quality of life were examined. 'Intangible value factors' were developed, that indicate or measure value in comparative rather than economic terms. This study will be useful to the profession in marketing and public relation programs, and will lead to further research of landscape architectural activities.
