| Trusses have been used extensively for roof structure of many spans. Truss configuration has a significant impact on both a building's exterior appearance and interior space. However, in current practice. there is a lack of guidelines for optimum truss design for architects and engineers.;This thesis presents such a set of guidelines for preliminary truss design. The study compared the self-weight of steel roof trusses of different configurations at different spans. Constructions of Tee & double angle (WT&DL) and tube (TS) trusses were compared. Different loading conditions, height-to-span ratio and panel size have also been studied to see how they affect the design of roof trusses. |
