Apartheid: Product or instrument of Afrikaner Nationalism

This Thesis investigates the symbiotic relationship between apartheid and Afrikaner Nationalism. It analyzes the role of Afrikaner Nationalism in the creation of apartheid. The Thesis will seek answers to the question: Was apartheid a product or instrument of Afrikaner Nationalism?;Apartheid's complexity notwithstanding, this Thesis will concentrate on the motivating forces of Afrikaner Nationalism and its misguided desire to build a nation through the ideology of apartheid. The Thesis further examines a number of political organizations and South African personalities that have impeded or empowered apartheid.;The Thesis sets out to prove that apartheid was the inevitable product of Afrikaner Nationalism. It concludes with the analysis that apartheid could not have emerged, nor could have endured for so long, without the unqualified support of Afrikaner Nationalism.
