Abstract/Summary:
The rapidly changing use of technology in education and in many other professions requires educators to implement new teaching strategies into the curricula. For this reason, the idea of developing a project focused in this new educational vision becomes more apparent.;In the project, a detailed analysis of the multimedia program design was developed focused in the goals, objectives and the student's necessities.;The included analyses were hardware and software development, text and graphics management, uses and quality of incorporated sound, and multimedia navigation systems.;Also, a comparison between Director 5.0 and Astound 4.0 development programs was made, concluding that Astound 4.0 was the viable software for the final multimedia program development.;The following project shows the development of a multimedia program that can be used in the probability and statistic courses in the Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Puerto Rico at the Mayaguez Campus.;Finally, the importance of the interactive exercises developed in Visual Basic 3.0 is shown and explained. These exercises help to insure and evaluate the knowledge acquired by the student, during the learning process using the multimedia program.
