Taking three primary and secondary schools in Urumqi as cases, by using concrete research methods such as investigation, observation, and interview, this research mainly focuses on the construction and using conditions of the multimedia facility, the development and use of multimedia course software, and the current situation and problems that arise with use of the multimedia in teaching. The purpose of this research is to investigate the resources disposition and using condition of the multimedia hardware and software, in order to analyses its application and current situation of multimedia use in the primary and secondary schools in detail. This research then looks into the effect of multimedia teaching in the schools and find out what problems which are met in the teaching process, and put forward development strategies in multimedia teaching by taking found problems into consideration.The main conclusions of this research are as follows:1. In some primary and secondary schools, there are some problems in various aspects of the multimedia facility's construction, using and management. Firstly, the hardware disposition is too insufficient (especially in primary schools) to satisfy the needs of teachers' teaching and learning. Secondly, there is poor equipment management, so it is inconvenient for teacher to use. Thirdly, there are not enough measures to encourage teachers to use the multimedia. Fourthly, the multimedia facilities do not be made full use of.2. Lacking the multimedia course software and the design of course software is not reasonable enough. And the multimedia course software used by teachers is just changed and replaced from the former basis, so teachers should improve the level of making multimedia course software.3. Teaching with multimedia can stimulate the students' study interest; promote the forming of students' multiple way of learning and enhance the students' study effect. Furthermore, the multimedia teaching also can enhance the effect of classroom instruction, lighten teachers' burden in the classroom teaching and promote the improvement of teachers' way of teaching.4. There exist a few problems in the teachers' teaching when they use the multimedia. For example, the using of the teaching medium is unitary, so the teaching content cannot be demonstrate effectively; the disordered demonstration of the multimedia teaching affects the students' study effect; because the media broadcast speed is not suitable, it is not good enough for students' effective study; for lack of the effective interaction and exchange between the teachers and their students, the effect of teachers' teaching and the students' study interest are reduced when using the multimedia.Furthermore, the thesis also puts forward some proposals on how teachers can use the multimedia better, such as depositing the existing resources reasonably in order to create a good environment for the multimedia teaching; transforming the teachers' concept and enhancing their cognition to the importance of the multimedia teaching; adopting the incentive measures to promote the teachers to teach by using the multimedia; organizing the classroom instruction reasonably, and combining the multimedia teaching and traditional teaching organically.
