he purpose of this study was to determine the difference between the time spent scheduling employees manually and time spent scheduling employees using automated labor scheduling software. A total of three 2week scheduling periods were used for manual labor scheduling and three 2-week scheduling periods were used for automated labor scheduling. For automated labor scheduling, the software program Worktime, version 2.3 for Windows was used. A cost and time analysis was completed for the manual labor scheduling and automated labor scheduling methods. For each 2-week scheduling period, results indicate there was no significant difference (P = 1.000) between the time spent for the manual method and automated method.
