Abstract/Summary:
This project investigates supplier manufacturing process capabilities responsible for producing essential product characteristics in Aerospace Fasteners consumed during the assembly of military aircraft. Those characteristics affect dimensional fit, form, and function. The focus of the investigation will concentrate on process capability. Process capability is concerned with the variation caused by all sources of variation: the machine, the material used, the methods employed, the operators involved, and the environment as it affects the product. (Amsden, Butler, and Amsden, 1986, p. 133); Huck International Inc. has adopted a Quality Assurance Program based on the Boeing D1-9000 Advanced Quality System. This system emphasizes the identification and control of key product characteristics, the analysis of those processes affecting key characteristics, and reduction of variability affecting product performance.
