Abstract/Summary:
From 1950 to 1984, Edward Klammer served as manager of the music department at Concordia Publishing House (CPH), the official publication arm of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod (LCMS). Before that time CPH did not publish much music. Under Klammer's direction, CPH became a significant publisher of church music.;Throughout his career, Klammer sought to improve the quality of church music in the LCMS. His success in meeting this goal may be seen through the recognition and awards that he and CPH received.;Klammer's duties as manager of the music department included heading the CPH Music Editorial Committee, supervising (and often participating in) projects, and serving as a sales representative. In addition, he participated in numerous activities beyond his duties at CPH. He edited music, wrote periodical and book articles, was a church organist and music director, and served in a number of capacities for various organizations.
