Abstract/Summary:
The spontaneous writing sections of the Test of Written Language - 2 and Peabody Individual Achievement Test - Revised were administered to 60 students in grades 4, 6 and 8. There were 10 boys and 10 girls per grade level. Students' scores on the two tests were compared. Chi Square analyses were calculated finding a significant difference between test scores at the 4th grade level only; however, percentages of agreement between individual student performance on both tests were somewhat low. Results indicate the two tests do not produce compatible scores. The number of students who would qualify for special education services, scoring method, reliability, and type of score derived from each test were discussed.
