| This policy analysis assessed the first 14 years of the implementation of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 and its subsequent reauthorizations. The policy's goals, values, and outcomes were analyzed using the policy analysis framework laid out in Unraveling Social Policy: Theory, Analysis, and Political Action Towards Social Equality. This analysis was conducted through the examination of the policies' text, government reports, and relevant literature.;The most notable finding is the policy's use of a framework to approach trafficking that is a mismatch for the dynamics of the problem. This mismatch leads to inadequate service provision to victims and limited progress in efforts to deter trafficking at home and abroad.;Recommendations for social workers include the promotion of a labor approach to the problem of trafficking in future policy discussions and a call to engage in rigorous research to build the evidence base for high quality services for victims. |
