Abstract/Summary:
This study was designed to determine whether a new program, initiated daring the 1962--63 school year, would be superior to the Physical Education program is existence up to that time. Kawameeh Junior High School, Unions New Jersey was the school at which this study took place.;From the data gathered, evidence tended to show that, at the .05 level of significance, there was a significant difference between the total scores. Continuing through the data, it was observed that a significant difference did exist for the following test items: total scores, push-ups, sit-ups, squat-jumps, and squat-thrusts. Using the level of significance suggested, the 'z' score boundaries were set at -1.96 to 1.96. The data supports the contention that the Royal Canadian Air Force program is worthwhile for the students. The is' scores for push-ups, sit-ups, squat-jumps, and squat-thrusts were respectively, 1.98, 3.92, 3.26, and 3.17.;A conclusion drawn from the data was that insufficient time had elapsed to properly determine the total contribution of the new program. However, it is reasonable to state that, in terms of Physical Fitness, the new program is more effective.;The entire male student population, for a two year period, was surveyed through the use of the United States Marine Corps Physical Readiness Test. Items tested were pull-ups, push-ups sit-ups, squat-jumps and squat-thrusts. Grouped data statistical form was used and items considered were the means of the various test items, their standard deviations, and the standard error of the difference between means.
