A Study Of William Leiss's View Of Technology

As one of the representative figures of western ecological Marxism,William Rice's technical thought has been widely concerned by scholars.No matter in Rice's era,or in today's rapid development of technology,people do not stop to reflect on technology when they use it.How to make technology benefit human society better has always been the focus of the research of ecological Marxist scholars.Based on the in-depth study of Les' s view of technology,this paper finds that in western countries,all kinds of crises brought about by technological alienation directly point the finger at capitalism itself,thus revealing the inherent irrationality of the capitalist system.This paper first investigates the theoretical source and historical background of Reiss' s view of technology.In terms of theoretical sources,Ries was deeply influenced by Marx's theory of technological alienation.Horkheimer's critical thought of technical rationality;The influence of Marcuse's "technological rationality" and other ideas has formed his distinctive technical thoughts.From the perspective of historical background,the formation of Rice's view of technology has a significant social and historical background.He experienced the crisis of natural environment caused by the abuse of technology.He witnessed the social crisis brought about by the integration of technology into society;He was at the beginning of the global conservation movement.These social and historical realities made Ries deeply aware of the nature of technology in capitalist society.Secondly,the technical view of Ries is analyzed.On the level of technology and control,the control of nature from technology;The essence of technological control in capitalist society is analyzed comprehensively from three aspects: the control of technology over society and the control of technology over man.In the analysis of the relationship between technology and the control of natural and social progress,from the analysis of technology and knowledge by Rice;Rice's analysis of the life world and Rice's analysis of the technical rationality will connect Rice's view of technology with the technical thoughts of Scheler,Husserl and Horkheimer.In the pursuit of the correct use of technology,from the rational understanding of technology;To find a way from three aspects: the instrumentalism characteristic of technology and the rationality of technology.Finally,it evaluates Les' s view of technology.The theoretical contribution of Reiss' s technology view is mainly to the development of Marx's technology thought.Deepening the understanding of the essence of technology under the capitalist system;It is of practical significance to solve the current ecological problems and social crisis.The deficiency of Les' s technical view is mainly manifested in the lack of in-depth research on Marx's technical thought;Insufficient understanding of the emancipation effect contained in technology itself;The understanding of socialism is not thorough.The enlightenment of Rice's technology view to the rational use of technology in China lies in that it not only clarifies the necessity of the rational use of technology in China,but also provides a lesson from the past for the rational use of technology in China.
