The tap is used to process internal thread.Tapping is semi-closed and multi-cutting edge forming.The tool life of tap is short and the cutting efficiency is low due to poor conditions.With the continuous research of the tapping process,different taps appear.The M6 small-diameter spiral fluted tap is chosen to optimize and carry out finite element analysis.The spiral fluted tap is suitable for processing through holes,blind holes and deep holes.It is suitable for processing the good ductility or toughness material.But the structure of tap is complex.It is found that the traditional design method cannot analyze the rigidity,strength and stress of the spiral fluted tap.The research on tapping is relatively few.The spiral fluted tap is designed by optimization and finite element analysis to study the effect of geometric parameters on cutting performance.Optimize the structure of the tap and improve the service life.In this paper,the tap material is HSS/Co.PM-ASP2030.The workpiece material is AISI-4130.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Analyze the force in the tapping process according to the structural of the tap and tapping forming principle,Deduce tapping torque equation.(2)Analyze the effect of geometric parameters.The minimum tapping torque is used to be target.Use Matlab to optimize the geometric parameters of the spiral fluted tap.Obtain the good geometric parameters.(3)Establish the three-dimensional model with Solidworks.Use plug-ins Simulation to analyze the static mechanics of spiral fluted tap.Study the distribution of stress and strain.Make sure the correctness of the optimized geometric parameters.(4)Simulate The tapping process of the spiral fluted tap by the AdvantEdge FEM.The effectiveness of the model is verified by the torque and clips of the tapping test.Establish multi-factor orthogonal cutting test.Analyze the influence of geometric parameters on cutting force.The geometric parameters obtained by optimization design are proved to be the optimal combination.Through the optimization design and finite element analysis of the structure of spiral fluted tap.It is learned about the cutting performance of spiral fluted tap and provides a theoretical basis for the design of spiral fluted tap,improves the service life of the tap,provides a reference for production.
