In recent years, the VOCs emission of cigarette label printing increased year by year, and the solvent residue was classified as an important monitoring index of safety and health of cigarette materials by the state cigarette administration. In view of the fact that there is no uniform measurement method for volatile organic compounds in cigarette printing industry, this paper used headspace-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry technology to establish a general method suitable for the determination of VOCs of cigarette label print.Based on the establishment of the method, the operating conditions of the instrument are optimized. The headspace sampling avoids the systematic errors caused by manual sampling. The efficient separation of chromatograms and the structural analysis of mass spectrometry are effectively combined to quickly carry out solvent residual components in print screening and identification.Secondly, the generation and changes of solvent residues were investigated from the three stages of pre-printing,middle printing and post-pressing during the printing of cigarette labels, the content of VOCs in each process was measured in real time. Finally, through the determination and investigation results of solvent residue,it can provide beneficial reference for the VOCs limit control in material selection, printing process combination, printing parameter determination and so on.The main research contents of this article are as follows:(1)The detection method was preliminarily established. In combination with the standards and regulations of the tobacco industry on the safety and health requirements of relevant residue controls substances, the target detection components in cigarette label printing were determined to be 26.Through qualitative and quantitative analysis by GC-MS,the retention time, qualitative and quantitative ions, mass spectrum and other retention data were obtained.(2)In order to achieve the complete separation of 26 solvent residues, theparameters used in the detection method were optimized. The effects of headspace injection conditions(equilibrium temperature, equilibrium time)and chromatographic separation parameters(injection temperature, separation ratio, carrier gas flow rate, column temperature program)on the peak shape, separation degree, retention time and detector sensitivity of VOC components were investigated.(3)After the optimization of instrument parameters, the accuracy and repeat ability of the detection method are verified and evaluated.Under the external standard method, the reliability factors:linear correlation coefficient, linear range, quantitative limit, detection limit and recovery rate were investigated.(4)Based on the reliability and accuracy of method, the content changes of VOCs(benzene and benzene series, solvent residue, solvent impurity)in printing raw materials, printing process combination, printing parameters and finished products storage were measured.(5)According to the content determination results, the printing ink(ink type, ink batch, ink load),paper base(paper type, paper quantity),printing parameters(plate cleaner, plate line number, printing speed, drying temperature),process(printing-varnishbronzing-die cutting),printing finished products(storage environment, storage humidity, storage time)are discussed.Further in depth to explore the impact of cigarette printing solvent residues.
