Polyacrylamides are the high molecular polymers that it is not only widely used in industrial sewage treatment, but also used for Enhanced oil Recovery(EOR).However,hydrophobically-associated polyacrylamide has special structure,so it has specifically properties and applications for flocculation and EOR of oily wastewater. Therefore, these kinds of polymers became research hotspot in recent years. In this experiment, the hydrophobically-associated amphoteric polyacrylamide was synthesized at room temperature by using an inorganic-organic initiation system and hydrophobic modification process, which was different from the conventional polymerization process. In this paper,a water-soluble cationic polyacrylamide was synthesized by inverse microemulsion polymerization using acrylamide(AM)and Methacrylatoethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride(DMC)as monomers. The conditions for microemulsion polymerization was optimized, the oil to water mass ratio was 1:2.5,emulsification 2 min,inorganic-organic initiation system and the initiating temperature was 35?C.Finally,water-soluble P(AM-DMC)was obtained, the molecular weight was 4 million and the monomer conversion rate was 99.7%.The reaction heat was measured by laboratory automatic calorimetric reactor, the results shown that the adiabatic temperature rise during the reaction process was up to 20?C.The thermal risk assessment risk of the polymerization process was low,and the reaction heat of the polymerization process was controllable,so it can be industrialized. The P(AM-DMC)was used to treat the sewage and industrial wastewater in the SAGD hot lime softening process, the experimental results shown that the dosage of 3 mg/L,the removal rate of turbidity was 99%.In the experiment,in organic solvents, three different structures and specificities properties hydrophobic modifiers were synthesized by quaternization and epoxy amination.Epoxy propyl dodecyl dimethylammonium chloride(EDQA),Propylamino benzyl dimethylammonium chloride(DBQA),N,N-bis(aminopropyl isopropanyl dimethyl ammonium chloride)-dodecylamine(DOQA).And the synthesis conditions were optimized, the epoxy value of EDQA was 48% and conversion rate reached 92%,the yield of DBQA was 80%,the conversion of DOQA was 73%.The product structure was characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and infrared spectra, the results show that the structure is consistent with the designed structure. The matrix polymer was obtained by inverse microemulsion polymerization with the conditions: AM and acrylic acid(AA)as monomers. As the same time, the three different structures of hydrophobically associated amphoteric polyacrylamide were obtained by adding hydrophobic modifier. And the synthesis conditions were optimized, monomer conversion rate was 98%,microemulsion polymer with a solid content of 40%.Microemulsion particle size was measured by transmission electron microscope and particle size distribution analyzer, the polymer structures and thermo stability were characterized by infrared spectra and thermal gravimetric analysis, the results were consistent with the expected results.Oily sewage in Liaohe Oilfield was treating by different structures of hydrophobically associated amphoteric polyacrylamide,The results shown that the water purification effect was P(AM-AA-DOQA)>P(AM-AA-EDQA)>P(AM-AA-DBQA),the P(AM-AA-DOQA)dosage of 15 mg/L,the removal rate of turbidity and oil content were 98% and 96%,respectively.During the heavy oil demulsification experiment, the demulsification effect was P(AM-AA-DBQA)> P(AM-AA-DOQA)> P(AM-AA-EDQA).P(AM-AA-DBQA)has a better demulsification effect, the dosage of 80 mg/L,dehydration reached 99% after 80 min of demulsification.
