With the development and commercialization of computer graphics,machining,virtual simulation and other related technologies,virtual simulation technology has broad application prospects in various fields of social life,especially in the field of assembly in industrial applications at home and abroad.Students or engineers are faced with some work that has a large learning cost,limited space,unfavorable environment,high risk,and difficulty.With its own technical characteristics,the virtual simulation technology can solve the related problems mentioned before and produce inestimable application value.Nowadays the majority of students have to receive metalworking training when doing lathe work.Due to the special nature of their own processing methods,the lathe operator training room is exceedingly large,teachers can't guarantee the learning progress of every student,students' operation isn't skilled with insufficient safety awareness.It is often easy to make for dangers,while the use of virtual simulation technology can address the problem and avoid such risks.This thesis takes virtual simulation training course in a university as an example,combined with industrial 3D model making technology,model topology technology,interactive design,program design,virtual simulation technology,lathe processing methods and other related knowledge,uses the virtual simulation software – Unity 3D as a platform,carries out a lathe simulation theory exploration and development practice,designs and develops virtual simulation "Unity based general lathe learning system".After the actual operation test,the following design objectives are achieved: it eliminates the problem that the teacher cannot vividly demonstrate the internal movement of the lathe during the practical training teaching and shortage of practical training site and machine tool equipment;it settles the issue that teachers can't explain to each student one-to-one;it also successfully reduces the probability of safety accidents caused by students' inexperience and operation mistakes;every student has substantial time to carry out 24 hours of practical training on the computer in any place and is able to check their own learning.
