In view of the problems of obvious surface corrugation and low machining accuracy in the machining process of wood-plastic composites,tapered milling can greatly increase the theoretical milling radius of the cutter in the milling process,so it can reduce the motion roughness of the machined surface and improve the surface quality.This work choose wood-plastic composite material as the research object,tapered angle,milling speed and milling depth were chosen as three experimental factors to study the milling force,milling temperature and surface quality of woodplastic composites during the tapered milling process.This work is devoted to provide theoretical guidance on the basis of the actual production in the factory,and the better development of wood-plastics composites for subsequent certain theory basis and the subsequent research.After a series experiment of wood-plastic composites,the main conclusion of the experiment are as follows:The milling force decreases with the increase of tool tapered angle and milling speed,while the milling force increases with the increase of milling depth within the range of factor levels selected in the experiment.The order of influence of three factors on milling force is: milling depth > tapered angle > milling speed.The main effect order of the three factors on the milling force selected in the milling speed test is: milling depth > tapered angle > milling speed.The effect of tapered angle and milling depth on the milling force is significant,but the effect of milling speed on the milling force is insignificant in the meantime.The milling temperature decreases with the increase of the tool tapered angle,and the milling temperature increases with the increase of the milling speed and milling depth within the range of factor levels selected in the experiment.The order of influence of three factors on milling temperature is: milling depth > tapered angle >milling speed.The main effect order of the three factors on the milling temperature selected in the test is: milling depth > tapered angle > milling speed,that is,tapered angle and milling depth have significant effect on milling temperature,while milling speed has an insignificant effect on milling temperature.The surface roughness decreases with the increase of tapered angle and milling speed,but increases with the increase of milling depth within the range of factor levels selected in the experiment.The order of influence of the three factors on surface roughness is as follows: milling depth > tapered angle > milling speed.The main effect order of the three factors on surface roughness is as follows: milling depth > tapered angle > milling speed,milling speed has an insignificant effect on surface roughness,while tapered angle and milling depth have significant effect on surface roughness.Scanning electron microscope(SEM)showed that the main damage forms of WPC surface after tapered milling were particle shattered,particle rupture and fiber tearing.During the optimization of milling parameters and cutting tool parameters,the optimal machining parameters are obtained as follows: tapered angle of 75°,milling speed of 55m/s,milling depth of 0.5mm.
