The art of Hunan embroidery has been an important representative of Hunan culture for thousands of years and has profound artistic connotations and cultural heritage.However,the inheritance and development of the art of Hunan embroidery once faced a dilemma,one of the main reasons being the lack of talent and the difficulty in succeeding it.The Hunan embroidery industry itself has not been able to adjust its industrial mechanism in time with social development.The content and nature of the secondary clothing course in Hunan Province,a cultural and artistic course with regional characteristics,fits well with the art of Hunan embroidery.As such,it is only right that Hunan's secondary clothing majors should take on the important role of passing on and promoting the art of Hunan embroidery.The integration of Hunan embroidery techniques into the professional curriculum should be used as a means to develop students' mastery of extended vocational skills for a career in the garment industry and to enhance their national pride and cultural confidence.The current emphasis on Hunan embroidery skills in secondary schools in Hunan Province is hardly sufficient to inherit and promote the excellent traditional skills of the region.Therefore,it has become an important task to address the question of why and how the art of Hunan embroidery is not integrated into the current curriculum of Hunan's secondary school clothing courses.Based on interview and literature research methods,this study investigates the current situation and dilemmas of the integration of Hunan embroidery skills in Hunan's secondary clothing majors,taking into account the perspectives of the educational ecology and the theories related to Taylor's expository curriculum.Based on the findings of several schools with different integration situations,it is found that the current situation of the dilemma includes the failure of the curriculum objectives and content to include content related to Hunan embroidery skills,the lack of space for the integration of Hunan embroidery skills in a compact class schedule,and the lack of teaching and learning conditions and assessment tools to systematically evaluate the effectiveness of learning Hunan embroidery skills.These problems are related to the weak awareness of the secondary clothing profession itself to train students in the art of Hunan embroidery,the lack of financial conditions and the lack of teachers.It is also influenced by the complexity of the knowledge system of Hunan embroidery techniques and the employment prospects of the industry.In such an environment and context,it is particularly difficult to embed the content of Hunan embroidery techniques.Therefore,to address the root causes of these dilemmas,the negative impact of these factors must be ameliorated.The study explores ways to address the dilemma of integrating Hunan embroidery skills from the environment in which the vocational clothing programme is located,and proposes macro-level recommendations based on a social perspective as well as micro-level recommendations based on a school perspective.
