The development of the steel industry is a topic discussed by people all over the world.Every country must develop the steel industry..my country is now in the middle and late stages of industrial development,and the demand for steel is huge,and the steel industry has more market space.With the changes in demand,the quality requirements for steel are now higher and higher.Controlling converter steelmaking is the most important link,and it is inevitable to optimize the shape of the converter taphole and the existing tapping system.This paper takes a 120 t converter in a steel plant as the research object.Due to the large size of the converter body and the relatively small diameter of the tapping opening,there is a big problem in scaling down according to the similar principle.If the model is too small,it is not convenient to observe the flow of molten steel at the tapping hole during the tapping process of the converter,which will cause a large error.If the model is large,although the fluid flow condition at the tapping port can be observed,it is not convenient for experimental operation due to the large geometric size and the high cost.Therefore,through calculations,local similar simulations are used to conduct experimental research mainly for the converter taphole.For the optimization of the tapping system,Gambit is used for modeling,the fluid level,volume,and mass flow of the converter are calculated through Fluent software,the steel time is calculated,and a complete tapping system is designed.The conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)By simulating the converter tapping experiment,under the condition of only changing the tap hole diameter,the tapping tap with variable diameter has the best effect on the tapping process of the converter.The tapping time is 28.2s,the remaining molten steel volume is 28950 ml,the volume of slag entrapment is 6.2,and the slag blocking success rate is 99.4%.(2)In the process of the converter tapping simulation experiment,the inner shape of the tap hole was optimized.After the inner shape of the tap hole was changed,the slag entrapment was improved.Among them,the volume of slag coil in Scheme 8 is1.2,and the slag blocking success rate reaches 99%.(3)When the converter tapping is approaching the end,the vent valve is opened to blow the converter tapping,which can effectively destroy the vortex formed at the end of tapping.The experimental results show that the amount of slag entrapment under air blowing is 0,and the slag blocking success rate is 100%.(4)Under the actual tapping system,the actual tapping process for the 120 mm diameter taphole takes about 569.8s,about 9.49min;the actual tapping process for the140 mm diameter taphole takes about 425.41 s,about 7.09min;the actual tapping process for the 160 mm diameter taphole takes about 330.06 s and about 5.501 min.(5)After optimizing the tapping operation system for the tapping hole with a diameter of 160 mm,the tapping time is about 3 minutes,which is 2.5 minutes less than the traditional system,which greatly improves the efficiency of converter tapping.The reduction of tapping time can reduce temperature drop and improve the converter.The problem of high temperature tapping avoids waste of energy.At the same time,it is found through calculation that the tapping angle of the 120 t converter will not exceed 102°.
