| With the economic development and social progress, the environmental problems increasing remarkably. It not only endanger people’s health, survival and development, but also menace planet’s fate. Environmental Education (EE) is the essential way to solve the environmental problems. It is also the indispensable assurance to promote social sustainable development. Adolescents are the future and hope of our country or even the world. The future global environmental state depends, to a great extent, on the future consciousness and actions of the adolescents. Therefore, it is the urgent needs of current social development even the long-term needs of future social development in primary and middle schools.The EE is an education field generally paid close attention to by the present countries all over the world, considered as an only way of protecting and improving the environment, realizing the sustainable development strategy of human society and fundamentally solving the severe environmental problem day by day. The research and practical exploration had achieved considerable progress in Europe and America as well as Hong Kong where EE theory started earlier. The EE in our country is generally developed and remarkable progresses have been achieved in primary and middle schools with many experiences. However, it is far from being universal implementation on effectiveness and the launching of EE activities.Main research topics in this thesis include seven parts:1. Elaborate the EE research development at domestic and overseas, based on this, explain why selecting the title and the significance, thought and method.2. An retrospection of history of the EE that primary and middle schools carried out both in China’s mainland and Hong Kong, which help us to find the main compare point.3. Make out evaluation to effectives by a analysis of the curriculum model, the situation of students’ extra curriculum activities, teacher training, the compilation of textbooks, teaching content, Green schools establishing, public EE both in China’s mainland and Hong Kong.4. Based on the evaluation and comparisons, pointed out that in EE,which characteristics of Hong Kong does have in the elementary and middle schools are worth us studying and using for reference.5. Pointed out the existing problems of elementary and middle schools in China’s mainland to help us clearly recognizes the current situation and indicate the direction for the later development.6. After recognizing the problems, put forward several proposals to the reform and development of EE in China’s mainland.7. Make a summary, the prospect in the future was presented in the light of the existing deficiency. |
