With the rapid economic development of our country for decades, our country’s international status and people’s living standards are improving day by day,but environmental problems are also accumulating. In recent years, serious environmental problems have continued to appear, such as severe haze weather, industrial waste water pollution, soil erosion and other environments. The problem has caused widespread public concern.Environmental pollution not only threatens people’s physical and mental health, but also reduces the efficiency of social and economic operations. At the same time, because of my country’s early implementation of the strategy of unbalanced economic development,my country still has a long-term situation of uneven economic growth and development between regions. The economic growth rate of the eastern region is significantly faster than that of other regions, and due to economic imbalances The development of China has led to environmental pollution and regional differences, which inhibited the harmonious development of the overall economy. Therefore, how to achieve the harmonious coexistence of economic growth and ecological environment in the eastern region is a topic of great concern to many scholars and governments. This article focuses on the relationship between regional economic unbalanced development and environmental pollution.First, this article combs the related theories of regional economic unbalanced development and environmental pollution, and finds that the existing literature mainly studies the impact of economic growth on environmental pollution, but environmental pollution also affects the economy.Development has an impact, and there is a correlation between the two. Therefore, this article mainly discusses the correlation between economic agglomeration and environmental pollution;secondly, this article is based on the data of 256 prefecture-level and above cities across the country from 2003 to 2018,using the Sir Index And the economic density spatial distribution map vividly shows the economic density distribution and change trend of China from 2003 to 2018,using the three industrial wastes, that is,the spatial distribution map of industrial sulfur dioxide, industrial smoke and dust, and industrial wastewater pollution, and vividly presents 2003-2018 The distribution and trend of environmental pollution intensity in China have been compared, and it is found that the degree of environmental pollution in areas with higher economic density is lighter, while the degree of environmental pollution in areas with lower economic development levels is heavier.Next, this paper uses the global Moran’s I index and the local LISA distribution map to evaluate and analyze the global spatial correlation and spatial salience of economic density and environmental pollution intensity. The three industrial wastes and economic density have significant positive spatial correlation, indicating that it has a "high-high” agglomeration and“low-low” agglomeration;thirdly,in order to further explore the relationship between regional economic unbalanced development and environmental pollution from a theoretical level, this paper expands on the basis of the theoretical model of output density, from the perspective of output The input end and the input end were involved in the intensity of environmental pollution respectively, and analyzed the correlation between environmental pollution and economic density. The study found that when economic agglomeration produces positive externalities and diminishing returns to scale of factors, and economic agglomeration generates negative externalities and returns to scale of factors In the two cases of increasing, the increase of environmental factor input may promote or inhibit economic agglomeration;when economic agglomeration produces positive externalities and the return to scale of factors increases, the input of environmental factors inhibits economic agglomeration;economic agglomeration produces negative When externalities and factor returns to scale are diminishing, the input of environmental factors promotes economic agglomeration. On the basis of the theoretical model, this article will then use empirical tests to test the correlation between the two, using the panel data of 256 cities at prefecture level and above from 2003 to 2018,adding other controls, and constructing a simultaneous equation model to solve the internal problems.Nature issues, testing the relationship between unbalanced economic development and environmental pollution. The results show that the correlation between the two is significant. The impact of economic density on environmental pollution is an inverted U shape that first increases and then decreases, indicating that with the increase of economic density, environmental pollution first aggravates and then decreases, which conforms to the traditional inverted U-shaped EKC curve; The increase in environmental pollution has an inhibitory effect on the increase in economic density. In addition, the empirical results also reflect that increased economic development, increased opening to the outside world, and improved transportation convenience will promote further economic agglomeration;there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between economic development and environmental pollution, and the increase in the proportion of secondary industries will increase Environmental pollution, the increase in electricity consumption per unit of GDP,the expansion of market scale, and the strengthening of environmental regulatory measures will all reduce environmental pollution.Because the economic gap between the North and the South has become increasingly obvious in recent years, this article divides the country into North and South regions, and conducts empirical tests to study the differences between the two regions. The results show that the estimated results in the north-south region in the economic density equation are basically the same, and the estimated coefficients of individual variables in the north-south region are in opposite directions.Compared with the economic density equation, the difference between the north and the south of the environmental pollution equation is greater. Many variables have different effects on environmental pollution due to the difference between the north and the south.Among the estimation results of the three pollutants, the estimation results of the equation in which industrial sulfur dioxide and industrial wastewater represent pollutants are relatively similar. The empirical part finally uses the two-stage least square method and three pollutants to test the stability of the empirical results, and the test equations all pass the stability test. The article concludes by summarizing the main conclusions of this article, and puts forward policy recommendations such as implementing a coordinated regional development strategy, promoting the coordinated development of regional economies, basing on resource and environmental carrying capacity, optimizing the pattern of land and space development and protection, strengthening coordinated environmental governance in regions, and continuously improving environmental quality.
