The world is experiencing profound shifts unseen in a century. The world economy is advancing in turmoil and China still faces uncertain situations and problems that are likely to exist in the medium and long run。At the same time, domestic development has entered a new stage, and a dual-cycle development pattern is being constructed.Narrowing the regional gap and achieving regional coordinated development is essential for China to form the new development pattern.Bole-Taipei Line, proposed by Mr.Fang Chuanglin in February 2020,connects Bole City in Xinjiang with Taipei City in Taiwan.Bole-Taipei Line, perpendicular to the Hu Huanyong Line and divides China into two halves of the southwest and northeast, which has the potential to be an representative line for the coordinated and equilibrious development of China.Human activities and economic production are both concentrated in cities, causing cities to become carriers of large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions.By investigating the spatio-temporal distribution of greenhouse gas emissions among 338 Chinese cities, this paper attempts, for the first time,to underpin the scientific basis of the Bole-Taipei Line as China’s regional coordinated development line.We find that:(1)Overall the carbon dioxide(CO2),methane(CH4),nitrous oxide(N2O)and fluorinated greenhouse gas emissions show a equilibrious distribution between the Bole-Taipei Line, and the regional differences of sectoral CO2 emission intensity and per capita CO2 emissions are small;(2)There is a generally equilibrious distribution of greenhouse gas emission intensity and per capita emissions,as well as the sectoral CO2 emission intensity and per capita emissions within the southwest and northeast parts of the Bole-Taipei Line;(3)The urban agglomerations between the Bole-Taipei Line are also constantly tending towards equilibrious distribution in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, and economic growth is gradually decoupled from greenhouse gas emissions, seeking high-quality green development. In conclusion, the greenhouse gas emissions as a measure of the magnitude of human activities between the Bole-Taipei Line are relatively equilibrious, justifying the scientific robustness and rationality of the Bole-Taipei Line as a strategic line for China’s regional coordinated development.
