Sodium alginate is a natural polymer material with abundant sources and low prices. Moreover, the compound hydrogels based on sodium alginate have been widely used in packaging, biomedicine and daily chemical products due to their mild forming conditions. In particular,as a suitable drug carrier, alginate hydrogels have a good application and development prospect. In this work, the effects of tannic acid on the complex gel system of sodium alginate and chitosan are investigated.Sodium alginate(SA/CTS)hydrogel microspheres and sodium alginate/chitosan/tannic acid hydrogel microspheres are prepared by ion pregel dropping. Then, the microspheres are examined for their structure and performance.Fourier transform infrared spectra(FTIR)is used to analyze the possible interactions of the molecules in the blends, thermal gravimetric analyzer(TGA)is used to evaluate the thermal stability of microspheres, and the effects of the addition of tannic acid on the particle size, water content and swelling properties of the microspheres are studied. The results show that the presence of tannic acid improves the thermal stability of the microspheres, increases the particle size and improves the water content and swelling rate due to the crosslinking effect between tannic acid and sodium alginate/chitosan.Then the sodium alginate/chitosan hydrogel with tannic acid cross-linked is used to encapsulate peppermint oil.The result proves that microcapsules prepared with tannic acid cross-linked polymer had higher encapsulation rate and better thermal stability. In addition, the application of alginate hydrogel in toothpaste production is also studied and establishes a model of the damage degree of alginate hydrogels during stirring.Orthogonal test is used to design the experiment. The rang analysis of the experimental data shows the influence of stirring time, stirring speed and the adding amount on the damage degree of calcium alginate hydrogels. The regression models of stirring time, stirring speed, the addition of sodium alginate and the damage degree are established based on multivariate nonlinear and multivariate linear regression analysis, and the goodness of fit and F test are m performed. The results show that the prediction model is feasible to analyze the damage degree of sodium alginate hydrogel.
