ObjectiveTo investigate the radiation dose rate changes and effective protective measures of radiation sources produced by different seeds implantation in patients with spinal metastases at different distances and times after 125I seeds implantation.Methods96 patients with spinal metastases admitted to the East Hospital of Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital from August 2015 to August 2018 were divided into five groups according to the number of 125I seeds implanted. There was no significant difference between the groups(P>0.05).Then,on the day after operation,2 months after operation and 4 months after operation, the radiation rates were measured by gamma-ray detector at the nearest marker on the body surface,0.5m from the nearest marker on the body surface,1m from the nearest marker on the body surface,2m from the nearest marker on the body surface, and in the spine area of the body surface after wearing lead protective clothing, and the radiation monitoring dose conversion values were calculated.ResultsThere was significant difference in radiation dose rate of different implanted particles between groups(P<0.05);when the number of implanted particles was less than 30,the patient’s body distance beyond 1 m on the day after operation could be regarded as safe distance;when the number of implanted particles was 31-120,the patient’s body distance beyond 2 m on the day after operation could be regarded as safe distance. When the number of implanted particles was more than 121,2 m after 2 months could be regarded as a safe distance. All cases showed that the patients wearing lead protective clothing after operation could basically isolate the radiation hazards of the surrounding environment, and there was no radiation hazard to the surrounding environment 4 months after operation.ConclusionAccording to the number of implanted particles, appropriate isolation protection, distance protection, time protection and other measures should be taken. The radiation effect of patients on the surrounding population is safe.
