| Architectural practice begins with the individual physical perception and rational cognition of the real world,and forms the ideas to guide the practical production.The movements and practices of numerous micro individuals constitute the order of the real society,and further become the basis of individual perception and cognition through the expression of order,forming the next production cycle.Therefore,architectural practice is not only a reflection of individual subjective cognition,but also influenced and shaped by the objective world,which is closely related and interact with each other.Architectural practice includes not only non-verbal expressions like construction activities,but also linguistic expressions such as texts.Barthes pointed out that all signifiers will go back to language.Therefore,in the compressed and fluid society,the order of discourse has become an increasingly critical force,and also an important way to understand architectural practice and its connotation.This thesis uses text analysis to extract the key words from the jury citation and acceptance speech of Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1979-2019,and separately discusses them in a ten-year period way,pointing out that the key words of both are generally directed to three dimensions which are individual,historical and social.Generally speaking,the focus of jury citation changed from the average consideration of the three to a foucus on the individual.And it was relatively balanced at the beginning of the 21 st century and then turned to the social dimension in recent years.The acceptance speech started from the individual discussion,and gradually became extensive and comprehensive,and finally went similarly to the consideration of social and human issues.Art,Environment and Human are the core keywords shared by the two.The architecture responds to macro issues such as environment,humanity,city,responsibility and history with its specific expressions such as space,form,material and construction.At the same time,in the change of the times and society,the meaning of these vocabularies are also changing.Looking further from the perspective of capital globalization and urbanization process,these issues and values of the Pritzker Prize are also affected by it,and becoming a products of the whole and the complex socialization process.There are six chapters.The first one expounds the background of post-modernism,globalization and consumerism in the 1960s-1970 s.The Pritzker Prize was born in this context and gradually became the medium of architectural production and communication.The author uses text analysis and social research to study the texts of Pritzker Prize.The second chapter is a theoretical chapter,which sorts out the three important relationship:the evolution of internal space,the external connection and competition,and the order of discourse as the key point.It points out the Pritzker Prize is also a way of architectural practice,and shows the interaction of the above relationships from the perspective of text.According to this logic,the third to the fifth chapter discusses the Pritzker Prize’s texts in detail.The third and fourth chapter describes the key words’ evolution of the jury citation and the acceptance speech respectively.Each has its own focus but gradually tend to the common theme of human and society.The fifth chapter further analyzes how the external conditions such as globalization,environmental pollution,social responsibility and humanistic care affect the evolution of Pritzker Prize value,which contains the intention,purpose and contradictions of different stakeholders.Finally,in the sixth chapter the author makes a brief comparison of the architectural ideas between the Pritzker Prize and China since its reform and opening up.On the basis of reviewing the previous article,and further proposes that these concepts are intended to form a wide range of cognition through media communication and act on the architectural production.The dilemma lies in the concealment or extinction of "truth" in the process of media reproduction and communication.How to find the truth in it,how to redefine the truth in architecture,and where the subject issues point,have all become the thinking.Based on the above discussion,the evolution of Pritzker Prize’s architectural ideas,shows the respective goals and visions of the jury and the laureates,and by the influence of consumerism,mass media and other external forces,it also reveals the competition and balance between the professional and media communities.With the development of architectural practice towards a more extensive,comprehensive and diversified dimensions,it puts forward several new thoughts on the role of architects,the value and goals of architecture,and even the paradigm of architecture discipline.Although the text does not mean an objective reality,it can serve as a mirror and become a way to observe and understand architectural practice. |
