Changsha is one of the best important cities for provinces of central south. As same as other famous historic and cultural cities, it has civilization history for a long time.The China traditional culture factor is its main body. During the process of architecture cultural exchanging between China and the West, foreign form of architecture contact with local traditional architecture. Both of them were developing and influencing each other. Especially,many personalities were emerged during neoteric changsha which residence also become a extraordinary type—Neoteric residence house during the process of contact between traditional culture and foreign culture. They accumulated a lot of use for reference experience in both design means and house space using. Most important is that they are associating with partial and bitty impression on the last century. And then,they become the architectural heritage which tie up with ordinary living of folks.The value of Changsha neoteric architecture has been too much ignored for too long. The stage about research of changsha neoteric architecture is incipient. Currently, more and more people pay attention to the "mainstream" and "index type" neoteric public building. At the same time, they has not been attached importance to "Folk" neoteric residence building. Up to now, there are not the authority statistics and the files of neoteric residence house of Changsha. Under the circumstances, I think as a local architect I could do some actual working for neoteric residence house.Based on documentation mine, information investigation and public opinion interview, the article chosen 54 representative house which is protracted plane and did questionnaire to the public about them. And then ,Bureau of Cultural of Changsha choose 23 house which are detail analyzed and researched for ichnography, elevation and section..It is the the basic files of the article. I try to put the neoteric residence house into special historical and cultural background and study the physical factor , social factor, cultural factor and historical factor of Changsha during neoteric period which impacted on the form and development of neoteric residence house by means of architecture typology.
