| Mausoleum is the memorial place where the ancient Chinese rituals took place.Present studies in Royal Mausoleum of Qing Dynasty are mainly on the aspects of the institutional evolution,the case engineering,and the Fengshui theory,which has achieved a series of fruitful results.But as the most specific consideration when the architectural complex designed,the ritual activity should be studied in detailed,to tell how the architecture be designed and used,to make the understanding of the Chinese historical architecture with completeness,with both the tangible and intangible value of the cultural heritage.Combine the tangible part of Royal Mausoleum architecture and the intangible part,the ritual activities,we have the concept of “Ritual Space”.The ritual for ancestral worship happened on the very first architecture of the series of the complex.The following ornaments of the series are all important nodes in ritual activities till the end of the series.The exhibiting of the space for rituals can be operated in virtual presentation and on-site simulation.In this point of view,the largest and most complete extant Chinese mausoleum-Eastern Qing Tombs,are taken for example with detailed studies in documents and field survey to show how ancestral and funeral rituals of Qing dynasty were closely related to the architectural arrangements of Eastern Qing Tombs,and the intangible cultural value that ritual activities hold in the understanding of Chinese Royal Mausoleum. |
