| Company C seeks to strategically transform from a shipping company into end-to-end logistics service provider, but meanwhile has management problems of its North America logistics service suppliers, which impedes the realization of strategic transformation.Using relevant theories, this paper analyzes and optimizes the management of logistics service suppliers in North America of Company C in strategic transformation from three aspects, namely management goal, strategies and workflows. This benefits smooth strategic transformation of Company C.Firstly,in terms of management goal, current supplier management goal does not match with the company’s strategic transformation goal. This paper identifies suitable management goal for relevant logistics service supply chain by analysis of market and customer demand trends, and then identifies the management goal for suppliers on the chain, changing focus from cost only to both service and cost.Secondly,in terms of management strategy, for supplier procurement strategy, the paper uses single standard classification plus two-dimensional matrix classification and divides relevant suppliers into four types, namely monopoly and strategically important suppliers, competitive and strategically important suppliers, competitive and less important suppliers, and monopoly and less important suppliers.Suggested suitable procurement strategies for the former three type of suppliers are respectively negotiation method, bidding method, and cost comparison method, while the latter type requires focus on relationship maintenance. For supplier evaluation strategy, the paper establishes business based quantitative indicators, regular assessment, and feedback mechanism to solve problems such as subjective indicators and invalid assessment. For supplier relationship management strategy, the paper suggests improvement from three aspects, namely correcting management goal, optimizing management processes, and deepening information sharing.Lastly,in terms of management process, the paper performs ASME analysis for existing procurement, usage and payment processes of relevant suppliers, identifies non-value-added and invalid parts, and proposes optimized workflow, which improved the overall efficiency. |
