Research On Brand Product Design Of Household Electrical Appliances Based On Shape Grammar

With the change of consumption concept and the improvement of product intelligence,the young consumer group possess a raring demand for small household appliances that could improve their quality of life,after relatively rigid demands(such as major appliances)satisfied.Therefore,it is undoubtedly a good opportunity for the development of small household electrical appliances.According to the function and scenarios,the small household appliance industry can be divided into sub-sectors such as small kitchen appliances,small household appliances and personal care small appliances.In China,the small household appliance industry is still in its infancy and has a huge development potential.However,in the context of homogenization of products,consumers pay more attention to the brand of products,while the competitiveness of brands depends not only on product performance,but on the style design and color matching.What’s more,with the acceleration of product replacement cycle and the boosting of consumers’ individual requirements on product appearance,industrial design has become an indispensable part of the product development process in enterprises.In order to avoid product homogenization,to maintain brand style continuity and to enhance the generation efficiency of pre-design,a design method based on shape grammar brand modeling ’was proposed in this research.Firstly,the semantic characteristics of small household appliances were extracted from the perspectives of linguistics,users and enterprises.The representative samples were selected by semantic difference method to explore the branding features.The refining of color genes and the generation of product color schemes were conducted based on a color extraction and recommendation system,which was exploited on Coreldraw platform.Secondly,in order to make the results more accurately and artistic,the shape rules,including generative rules and modification rules,were summarized to constrain the size,shape and spatial position of each component.Finally,ArcGIS software was applied to execute the shape grammar.The ECOVACS brand sweeping robot was taken as an example to implement the product design and evaluate the program.
