In the 21 st century, with the rapid development of the transportation industry, the demand for ultra-long-span bridges is also increasing.Suspension bridges are among the top of all bridge types due to their reasonable mechanical performance. From the completed Japanese Akashi Strait Bridge(main span 1991m),which is now the world’s main span,to the Italian Messina Bridge(main span 3300m)under construction,to the ultra-long span Gibraltar Strait Bridge The proposal of the plan(the main span exceeds 5000m),constantly updating the new span records has become an inevitable trend for the future development of suspension bridges. As the main cable material of active suspension bridges, steel is the main factor restricting the development of longer and larger spans of suspension bridges due to its material characteristics such as self-importance and corrosion resistance.Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer(CFRP)with characteristics of light weight, high strength, corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance have aroused widespread concern in the civil society, and their use as main cable materials for suspension bridges can exert great performance advantages. So far, there have been no reports of CFRP cables being built worldwide, and there are few relevant literatures,so it is necessary to carry out research in this area. Therefore, this paper explores and analyzes the mechanical properties of CFRP main cable suspension bridge and CFRP tendon anchors, the main contents are as follows:First of all,it systematically expounds the development history, stress characteristics and development trend of suspension bridges. The material properties and development status of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer(CFRP)are introduced in detailed. Then, using a suspension bridge in Chongqing as the engineering background, the main design parameters of the CFRP main cable suspension bridge were drawn according to the mechanical properties of the CFRP material. The finite element software midas Civil was used to do numerical simulation analysis on the modeling of two types of suspension cables with different main cable materials.Contrast and analyze the stress and deformation of each component of the suspension bridge(main cable, tower, stiffening beam and boom)under constant load, live load and temperature load. The dynamic performance of two types of suspension cables with different main cable materials is also analyzed, including the structure’s natural vibration characteristics and natural frequency. Finally, the finite element software midas FEA was used to carry out modeling and numerical analysis of the CFRP bar split clip anchor. The influence of various factors on the anchorage performance was analyzed, including:anchorage length, anchor cup inclination angle, friction coefficient.Obtaining a reasonable parameter combination that can better play the role of anchoring provides a theoretical data reference for the design of CFRP bar split-wedge anchors in the future.
