There is no doubt about the importance of energy in social development,and the development of human society can not be separated from energy,especially in today’s increasingly fierce competition,and energy is an unavoidable problem for all countries.Energy has been exerting a profound impact on the politics,economy and culture of all countries in the world.Nowadays,the impact of energy has not been reduced,but is still increasing.Central Asia is located in the centre of Eurasia.Because it is rich in oil,natural gas,coal,solar energy,hydropower,wind energy and other resources,it has become the focus of energy in the world.The economic development of Central Asian countries relies heavily on energy resources,which is the foundation of independence and security of Central Asian countries,and the necessity of developing relations between major powers in Central Asian countries.China’s rapid developmet of economy needs a great supply of energy sources,while the domestic demand for energy is huge,but the domestic energy output can no longer meet its huge demand,so it has to import energy.China has become the main driver of the global energy market.The unique geographical location of China and Central Asian countries makes their energy cooperation have unique advantages.The practical necessity,current situation,challenges and countermeasures of deepening energy cooperation between China and Central Asia are the focus of this paper.The first part firstly clarifies the related concepts of energy cooperation,and briefly summarizes the energy cooperation between China and Central Asia,then points out the energy supply and demand situation between China and Central Asia,and points out that China and Central Asia have huge energy base,good cooperation environment,complementarity of short-term and long-term strategic interests,Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Silk Road Economic Belt provide realistic necessity for energy cooperation between China and Central Asia.The second part introduces the course of energy cooperation between China and Central Asia,including the resources exploration,construction,processing,and trade of oil and gas and energy finance cooperation,and summarizes the characteristics of energy cooperation between China and Central Asia.In the third part,the challenges of energy cooperation between China and Central Asia are expounded from three perspectives of politics,economy and culture.The political uncertainty of the five Central Asian countries,geopolitical games between the United States,Russia and the European Union in Central Asia,the fragility of the economic development of Central Asian countries,the investment environment of Central Asian countries,religious extremist forces,and the misunderstanding of China’s rise and Chinese governance concept are all threatening the energy cooperation between China and Central Asia.The fourth part propose concrete measures to further deepen the energy cooperation between China and Central Asia.First,properly handle the geopolitical relations with the United States,Russia and the European Union;The second is to build a new cooperation mechanism and explore new ways of trade cooperation;The third is to focus on people’s livelihood projects and strengthen civil diplomacy;Fourth,strengthen the international competitiveness of Chinese oil and gas enterprises.China and Central Asian countries should make concerted efforts to seize opportunities,meet challenges,achieve mutual benefit and win-win results,continue to deepen energy cooperation between China and Central Asia,and push energy cooperation between China and Central Asia to a new development height.
