The functional orientation and composition structure of expressway passenger transport are undergoing adjustment and change,while the passenger cars number and traffic volume of expressway continue growing rapidly.In 2018,the proportion of passenger transport volume and passenger turnover completed by passenger cars up to 77% and 72%.At present,there are few statistics and related researches on highway passenger vehicles transportation,and mostly using GPS to investigate the travel characteristics of passenger cars within the city.Therefore,this thesis studies the characteristics and development trend of highway passenger cars travel,which has important reference significance for expressway operation management,transportation problems solving and regional socio-economic development.Firstly,SQL platform and Trans CAD were used to perform descriptive statistical processing on 2018 national highway network toll data and supplementary survey data.By analyzing the parameters of traffic flow characteristics,such as travel time,travel distance,and occupancy rate,the operating characteristics of highway passenger cars were been studied.Secondly,the regional distribution and main lines distribution characteristics of passenger cars traffic were analyzed,at the same time,the concentration of traffic distribution in typical regions was been calculated.In order to quantify the imbalance of traffic flow distribution,the equilibrium model of passenger cars flow distribution on the expressway was established,basing on the indicators of passenger cars travel demand,travel density,and transportation density.Through three dimensions of time,area and charging status,the paper studied development trends of passenger cars imbalance distribution in China.Finally,the entropy clustering method was used to analyze the comprehensive development of passenger cars transportation.The results of the study shows that the travel volume of passenger cars has significant characteristics of monthly,daily,time-varying and holiday traffic flow,and it’s travel distance and time on the scale of provincial and municipal road networks conform to the qualitative distribution characteristics of lognormal function.It is the agglomeration effect of Beijing,Shanghai and other developed regions is strengthened that the imbalance distribution of passenger cars traffic in China has increased in recent years,while Beijing’s traffic concentration of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region reached 58.27%in 2018.The passenger cars travel internal equilibrium in the central and western regions is significantly better than that in the eastern regions,and the balance of passenger cars travel flow distribution is improved during free holidays.
