Side column collision is a special form of side collision in the research of automobile passive safety.Because the side wall structure of the car body does not have many energyabsorbing parts like the front part,and the distance between the passenger compartment and the side wall parts is very small,it is very difficult for the driver and passengers.The living space poses a great threat.Therefore,the research on the crashworthiness of the side column collision to improve the stiffness of the side components to protect the life safety of drivers and passengers has the popularization value and theoretical research significance.This article takes a certain SUV model of Southeast(Fujian)Automobile Industry Co.,Ltd.as the research object.According to the relevant test standards of E-NCAP and the forwardlooking 2021 version of C-NCAP,the research purpose is to reduce the intrusion of body side parts,using finite element simulation technology.And optimize the design method,analyze and optimize the crashworthiness of the vehicle and the head acceleration of the dummy,so as to improve the crashworthiness of the vehicle under side-column collision conditions.The main research contents of the paper are as follows:(1)Sorting out and analyzing the side column collision accident data in the FARS database,the results show that in the side column collision accident,the risk of occupant head injury reaches 33%.(2)Using RADIOSS software,a finite element simulation model of remote occupant sidecolumn collision was established,and the validity of the simulation data was verified by the actual vehicle test.It was concluded that the side wall of the car body had insufficient crashworthiness,and the deficiencies were analyzed.Then,the side wall structure was optimized by improving the shape of the door anti-collision bar,increasing the contact area between the lower edge of the B-pillar and the door sill beam,and adding reinforcements in the door sill beam,and the optimized side wall crashworthiness was improved.(3)Use the orthogonal test method to optimize the material and thickness of the door sill outer panel,the door anti-collision bar,and the front and rear cross beams of the seat.Then the sensitivity analysis of each test factor is performed,and the final optimized combination is selected through the comprehensive balance method.The results show that the improved scheme is feasible and the crashworthiness is significantly improved.
