Study On The Evolution Of Settlement System Based On Regional Unit

The recent research on Great Wall Studies is no longer limited to the construction technology of the Great Wall and the methods of heritage protection,there are continuous new breakthroughs in the depth and breadth of the research.The military settlements distributed along the Great Wall have been the focus of research by scholars in recent years.After the Ming Dynasty,while the defensive role of the Great Wall becomes ineffective,the border settlement system composed of military settlements and built with a human and geographic structure also collapsed and embarked on a new development path.On the basis of the research of other scholars,the author focuses on political,economic,cultural and other factors from the perspective of ‘the Great Wall is not a border’.Taking Xuanfu Town,one of the Great Wall defense areas,as an example,the author discusses the formation of the settlement system around the Great Wall and the evolution of the system after the Ming Dynasty.This article uses the Ming Dynasty Great Wall military town defense zone as the basis for the division of human geographic regions,and selects Xuanfu Town,which is not only the epitome of the Great Wall settlement system,but also has its own characteristics,as the research object and divide into three parts for research.The first part studies the military background and geographical environment that formed the border settlement system in Xuanfu Town in the Ming Dynasty,and summarizes the operation mechanism of the system and the spatial characteristics of the settlement.The second part takes the settlement system of frontier defense as a starting point to study the evolution of the system from the Ming Dynasty to the present,including the evolution characteristics and influencing factors.The study of evolution characteristics is carried out from the two perspectives of settlement system and settlement monomer,specifically the center and structure of the settlement system,as well as the level,scale and internal space of the settlement.The four stages of evolution are summarized through the study of characteristics of the system.The study of influencing factors starts with sorting out various factors and classifying them,followed by analyzing the influencing factors at each stage,and finalized by summarizing the driving mechanism of the evolution of the settlement system in Xuanfu area.The third part is to explore the future development trend of the settlement system in Xuanfu area under the premise of clarifying the evolution process and mechanism of the settlement system in the Xuanfu area.First,summarize the factors affecting the future development of the settlement system,and then combine the driving mechanisms of the various factors that have been studied to predict the future development trend of the settlement system at the macro level.Finally,at the micro level,the settlements are divided into four development types and studied separately the development trend of each type in the three aspects of settlement structure,public space and residential buildings.
