| With the rapid development of urbanization, the urban population has increased rapidly, and the pace of life has accelerated. In this high-pressure state, people have a certain yearning for slow pace and slow life, and the Buddhist temples located in the city center become an ideal place for urban residents to seek spiritual comfort and relax their body and mind. With the rejuvenation of Chinese traditional culture,Buddhist culture,as an important part of Chinese traditional culture, began to enter people’s life again. As an important carrier of Buddhist culture,a large number of Buddhist temples have been repaired, protected and expanded. However,in the process of repairing and operating the Buddhist temples, people pay more attention to the physical composition of the Buddhist temples, and the acoustic environment of the Buddhist temples themselves has not been paid enough attention. As a research branch of architecture, architectural soundscape is devoted to the study of the acoustic effects of different designs of buildings and the subjective perceptions and influence on people from the perspectives of sound, sound field and human cognition. The research on soundscape of Buddhist temples, especially the soundscape of urban Buddhist temples,is at the early stage. This thesis firstly summarized the state of the art of the research on Chinese Buddhist architecture.A bibliometrics analysis was provided over the 2753 SCI-indexed publications related to soundscape retrieved from the core collection of Web of Science database. We identified the leading countries and regions, the most active institutes, leading journals and most frequently used keywords in this area.We sorted out the description of architectural soundness in ancient Chinese books and the domestic scholars’ opinions on soundscape and temple soundscape. We analyzed the research results from domestic and foreign scholars on the soundscape evaluation methods, which provides a basis for the selection of soundscape evaluation methods for this study.Afterwards, four representative Buddhist temples in Chengdu,China, including Daci Temple,Wenshu Temple,Zhaojue Temple and Baoguang Temple, were selected as the research objects. On the basis of the literature review, practical measurement and questionnaire survey, the physical and functional elements of the soundscape of Buddhist temples were analyzed. Then,we established a criteria system for soundscape evaluation towards urban Buddhist temples. In consideration of the subjectivity and uncertainty of people’s perceptions and evaluations of soundscape, this study allowed the respondents to express their perception information intuitively in language during the evaluation process, and then used hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets to represent the subjective perception information. The hesitant fuzzy linguistic analytic hierarchy process was then applied to evaluate and analyze the soundscape situation of four representative temples. The ranking results of the four Buddhist temples were given.According to the ranking results, this thesis summarized the idea of soundscape and construction methods of soundscape of these four temples. We provided corresponding suggestions for the repairing and protection of Buddhist temples. It is hope that this paper would have certain reference value in promoting the developments of Chinese architecture soundscape research. |
