The development of rural areas has always been a hot topic of social concern. With the comprehensive deployment of rural revitalization strategies, rural areas have ushered in a new round of development opportunities. At the same time, under the influence of the epidemic, the construction of healthy rural areas has become the focus of academic attention. To achieve rural revitalization, the construction of a healthy village should be the meaning of the topic, and it is also the specific requirement of the national health strategic plan, and it is the guarantee of the villagers’ yearning for a better life. The public space of rural settlements is an important part of the framework of rural settlements and an important starting point in the construction of healthy villages. Therefore, the healthy design of public spaces in rural settlements is of great significance. This article takes the public space of rural settlements in the desert grasslands south of Yinshan Mountain in Inner Mongolia as the research object, and uses the methods of literature analysis, field investigation, questionnaire investigation, and multidisciplinary research to analyze and summarize the public spaces of rural settlements with characteristics of the research area, and explore the public space.Existing health problems, and put forward health design strategies for public spaces based on the problem, and finally explore the specific application of health design through design practice. This article first summarizes the factors that affect the healthy development of rural settlement public space through reference materials, and uses the influencing factors as a pavement to conduct field investigation and questionnaire survey on the rural settlement public space in the study area. The field survey conducted a systematic summary from the elements of square space, road space and node space. The questionnaire survey summarized the health status of the villagers in the study area, the free time period of the villagers, the status and utilization of public space, and the villagers’ satisfaction with the public space.Through field and questionnaire surveys,we can find the advantages and disadvantages of the healthy development of public space. The advantages include promoting the villagers’ pursuit of health, the configuration of facilities provides protection for the villagers’ pursuit of health, and the improvement of the quality of landscape greening.Promote the health of villagers, including insufficient public space attractiveness, low utilization rate, insufficient seasonal response measures, limited space resource allocation, unreasonable facility allocation, low environmental landscape construction, and failure to design care for special populations in the village. With reference to relevant design theories and practices, the design principles of climate adaptability, regionality, demand, and integrity are proposed, and design strategies are proposed based on theoretical principles. The strategies are integrated design at different levels, improving facility configuration, and optimizing the environment.Landscape and healthy design for special groups of people. The article finally uses Shengli Village No.1 as an example of design application to apply the theory to specific practical applications.Optimized the design of the public space of rural settlements in the study area from the perspective of health, aiming to use public space as a target to promote the health of villagers in rural settlements and the healthy development of rural society, and contribute to the revitalization of the village, and provide the desert grassland south of Yinshan Mountain in Inner Mongolia.Rural settlements and the healthy development of rural settlements across the country provide a reference.
