Research On High-density Strategy Of Low-rise Residential Buildings In China

Low-rise high-density residential buildings have a long history,from the traditional quadrangle residential houses,to the Lilong residential houses,to today’s courtyard villa.The low-rise high-density residential buildings have been one of the most important types of Chinese living form.It is loved by people for its expansive grounding space,intimate neighborhood and pleasant architectural form.Today Chinese housing conditions have reached the basic well-off,and people’s requirements of living environment are increasing.On the other hand,the urban land is continuously contracting,and the agricultural land is in urgent need,so the low-rise high-density will be further applied and developed.The paper starts from the dual perspectives of architectural design and historical evolution.On the basis of sorting out the development context of China’s modern low-rise high-density housing,the writer focus on the design practice of Beijing and Tianjin in contemporary times,try to propose the high-density strategy for low-rise housing in ultra-large cities in north China.The paper intend to guide residence design guaranteeing high quality living environment on the basis of realizing high density.Also,the paper fills in the theoretical gap and has important practical and theoretical significance.This paper is divided into two parts.The first part mainly analyzes the development and evolution of low-rise high-density housing and high-density strategy under the control of different subjects in the country and the market through the study and integration of a large amount of literature,which provides a broad and detailed theoretical basis for subsequent research.The second part focus on contemporary north cities,analyzes the feasibility of low-rise high-density housing in Beijing and Tianjin from multiple perspectives,and proposes the applicable model in the future.On this basis,the paper makes an empirical analysis of typical cases.It comprehensively analyzes the way of density improvement from individual and planning levels,and generalizes the multiple compensation strategies in high-density environment from space,environment,psychology and city.At the end,this paper tries to establish a high-density strategy system suitable for low-rise residential buildings in Beijing and Tianjin,and looks forward to the development direction,so as to provide strategies and methods for the design of low-rise high-density residential buildings in this area in the future.
