A Preliminary Study On The Design Strategy Of Low-rise And High-density Residential Areas

Aiming at the site design of low-rise and high-density residential areas,this paper proposes a site-based design model based on environmental characteristics,focusing on living psychology and emphasizing residents’ participation.Combining the characteristics of scale and density of low-level and high-density residential areas,a set of realistic operations is formed Sexual design strategies for low-rise,high-density residential areas.This article expounds the site design of low-rise and high-density residential areas from three aspects: from practical problems to theorizing of the theory,a set of design methods from phenomena to phenomena obtained from quantitative analysis,and finally to verify the design methods by examples.The first chapter summarizes the development context of low-rise and high-density residential areas: it studies and combs the development of western townhouses and Shanghai Lilong-style residential houses,and summarizes the existing works and literature on site design.After that,the related concepts were defined,and on the basis of the row-type and superimposed-type,a "flat-story" type of housing with a higher density was proposed.The second chapter analyzes and studies the connotation and characteristics of site design of low-rise and high-density residential areas.Discussed that the presentation and shaping of place needs to pay attention to the construction of living psychology,in order to stimulate the multi-level people’s communication activities and create a sense of belonging and place in the community.Then,the characteristics of the low-rise and high-density residential area were quantitatively analyzed.At the density level,on the basis of the traditional floor area ratio and building density,deep into the set density that reflects the spatial distribution intensity of the family,the three density indicators are comprehensively considered;at the scale level,the block scale,street scale and center The scale of the landscape was quantitatively analyzed.Reasonable density and pleasant scale are the basis for shaping the locality of low-rise and high-density residential areas.The third chapter summarizes the principles and strategies of the low-level and highdensity site design,focusing on the characteristics of the environment in the low-level and highdensity residential areas as well as the spatial sequence and hierarchy,identifiability,and diversity.Starting from the three levels of environmental characteristics,living psychology,and residents’ participation,a set of feasible and instructive site design strategies is established.The fourth chapter takes the design study of "low-level belt along the mountain" in the overall urban design of Weihai City,Shandong Province as an example,based on the planning principles of "according to local conditions,compact and organic texture;the shape of the group follows the slope;the use of multiple architectural techniques,scattered and appropriate",Analyze the planning layout of the roads and clusters in the low-rise zone along the mountain in Weihai and the style and space form of the single building,respond to Weihai’s characteristic headland environment and urban style,and confirm the low-rise high-density residential area based on the natural style and environmental characteristics The strategy of place design.Chapter 5 is based on the practice of the low-level high-density residential area of “Crystalcrystal Nanxun” in Nanxun District,Huzhou City,Zhejiang Province,to study the continuation of its cultural context and the creation of residential psychology,which continues the organicity of physical space and psychological space Hierarchy,this practical case confirms the strategy of site design of low-rise and high-density residential areas under the environmental characteristics dominated by humanistic style.This article records the research and practice of low-rise high-density residential areas that the author has participated in since 2018,summarizes the unique characteristics of low-rise high-density residential areas from the results,and refines the principles and strategies for the site design of low-rise high-density residential areas.Starting from different types of environmental characteristics,emphasizing the construction of residential psychology and the participation of residents in the later period,the ultimate goal of "poetic habitation" is finally achieved.
